このたび私どもは、我が国の理科教育活性化の一環として、 2009年に続いて、国際生物学オリンピックを2020年に長崎県で開催するために、「国際生物学オリンピック2020組織委員会」を設立いたしました。この国際大会を2回開催するのは、国際生物学オリンピック発足直後の参加国数の少なかった時期を除けば、世界で初めてです。
この国際大会開催に当たっては、地域の発展や活性化という観点からも、かつて被曝によって甚大な被害を被りながらも美しく復興した長崎を会場にいたしました。
